Roz and Shawn first met in the Spring of 2008 while working a late afternoon shift in an MSU cafeteria dish room. Turns out it wasn't love at first sight though, since most shifts were spent with Roz complaining about her then boyfriend, who also worked that same shift in the dish room. Throughout the rest of college Roz continued to be good friends with groomsman Jimmy (Yimmy) Poteracki and occasionally hung out at Shawn's house. When Roz was finished at MSU she left the state to pursue her master's degree in Baltimore, Maryland.
Fast forward a bit to 2010, Shawn started playing in a new band and Roz was still in Baltimore. Eventually a connection was made that Roz was really good friends with the band's guitarist, Ryan Hoger. From there Roz and Shawn started chatting again. A lot. And soon enough she was home visiting on a break from school and they went on their first date at Border Cantina, where Roz made fun of Shawn for getting a Labatt Blue at a Mexican restaurant. Before returning out east they had a few more hangouts, Shawn shaved off his creepy bachelor mustache, and they decided to try and make this thing work long distance.
While doing some routine Facebook stalking, Roz and Shawn came to realize that Shawn's Aunt Sandy was Roz's dad Bill's childhood best friend, and Bill had spent some time a few summers before with Shawn's family. Their small world kept getting smaller and smaller. Since then Roz moved back to Michigan, the couple moved to Oregon, then back to Michigan, and now they're getting married!

Roz spent many, many days trying to think of what to write about Stacey. How do you sum up your best friend in three or four sentences....you can’t. Stacey is the most wonderful, intelligent, amazing best friend ever! Roz was so excited and shocked to have her involved in the proposal and is even more excited to have her be her Maid of Honor! Fun Fact....Roz and Stacey have been friends since Kindergarten and Roz’s dad still thinks her name is Tracy.
Jill and Roz met when they were in the same 5th grade class (OPE!). The next year Jill moved next door to Roz and lived there until Junior year of college. Jill and Roz have years of funny memories and inside jokes, most of which are not wedding website appropriate. Roz is excited to have Jill be in the wedding and create even more!
Stephanie and Roz met freshman year in High School. They've remained good friends throughout college (Even though Stephanie went to UofM), grad school, and moves for both across the country. Stephanie is an extremely talented and gifted Nurse Practitioner. Unfortunately for Stephanie, anyone who knows Roz knows that she is an extreme hypochondriac, and sadly for Stephanie she has born the brunt of this with numerous worried phone calls and texts weekly. Roz is excited to have Stephanie stand up in the wedding and spend time with her friend, but also in case she has a hypochondriac freak out!
Brook and Roz met when they attended graduate school at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. Brooke and Roz became fast BFFs and spent pretty much every day together; "pretending" to study, sucking at kickball, drinking slushies at Stalking Horse, and marathoning SVU. Even though they live far away now and only see each other a few times a year, they're still great friends and Roz can't wait for Brooke to teach everyone at the wedding to fist pump like only a Long Island'er could!
Emily was Shannon's roommate freshman year in the dorms. Roz and Emily stayed friends throughout all four years, Roz pretty much lived at Emily's house on Kedzie street senior year. When Roz went to grad school, Emily moved to D.C. They continued to bond over being MSU fans on the East Coast. Emily is a HUGE MSU sports fan and can tell you pretty much any stat about the basketball and football teams. Roz is excited to make more memories with Emily at the wedding.
Andrea and Roz met freshman year of college when she was Jill's roommate. Andrea and Roz lived together in the dorms and in a house on Virginia Street (with Jill too!). Andrea and Roz often waste the day away chatting on g-chat about their weddings. They got engaged within two weeks of each other and have enjoyed co-planning their weddings together.
Shannon and Roz met when they were roommates at MSU Orientation. In typical worry wart Roz fashion, she told on Shannon for missing curfew. Thankfully they moved past it and have been great friends since then. Roz has tons of great memories from football games, dorm parties, and college in general. Shannon's always the life of the party and Roz can't wait to celebrate at the wedding.
There is no better man to be the best man than Shawn's older brother Erik. Erik and Shawn have always been best friends, have always gotten along, and that's not going to change anytime soon. He was very influential in Shawn's decision to attend MSU between informing Shawn about the video game development program and the tour they took of the Dairy Store where they cheered on the valiant cheese making students. That decision ultimately has led Shawn to the great life he leads now, but most importantly for this blurb eventually led to him meeting Roz in the dish room that first fateful afternoon shift. Thanks Erk!
Nick is Roz's brother. He's not too terribly stoked to have to put on a tuxedo for this event but deep down Roz and Shawn know that he's excited. He's a man of few words but in the short time Shawn has known him they've really started to bond. Also: for Christmas this year Nick asked for a copy of Legend of Zelda for the N64, which pretty much means they're best friends forever now.
Shawn and Yimmy met when they were Freshmen at MSU and lived two doors away from each other in Abbot hall. They became fast friends when it was brought to light that in a previous life Yimmy worked at MJR in Brighton. Yimmy is especially important to this wedding party because he was good friends with Roz throughout all of college and was present for Roz and Shawn's last non dating hangout where they all went to the Yum Yum Tree. Another important thing to note about Yimmy is that there exists no better person and friend in the entire world. Quality gentleman all the way.
Shawn and Ted also met when they were Freshman at MSU and Ted lived right next door to Shawn. It took a little while for Shawn to warm up to Ted however since it was about 17 days into college before Ted started wearing shirts (in his defense Fall 2007 was extremely hot). They quickly bonded over Duck Hunt and intramural soccer and ever since then Ted has pretty much been part of the family.
Kyle "Cousin Kyle" Clinton is Shawn's cousin. They have pretty much always been friends outside of family obligation, but the relationship became even better when Kyle came to MSU and immediately became an integral part of the college gang. As a team Kyle and Shawn average about 2500 passing yards per match of NFL Blitz 2000. They have also played some real life sports together between Kyle playing on the Coyotes soccer teams, MSU intramural soccer teams, Slamball, and Stick: the sport they invented at the cottage that never really took off.
Ryan and Shawn have been friends since the release of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1996). They met in Sunday school where they mostly ignored the lessons and talked about how hard the Water Temple was. Throughout the years they have remained close across vast distances despite the fact that Ryan always has and always will cheer on the Maize and Blue. Shawn will never forget that one time he accidentally ate a raw Bagel Bite at the annual Leahy Super Bowl party.
Jason and Shawn have been best friends since the time of Genesis (Sega that is). They have remained extremely close through multiple moves near and far. Jason also lived in Abbot Hall and the Milford house with the rest of the gang at MSU. Their friendship was put to the ultimate test when Shawn beat Jason for the crown of BHS prom king, but it was probably just given to Shawn because it would've broken way too many long standing social norms for Jason to have been both prom king and valedictorian.
